Live in 6 Hours: The Women's division of the All Japan Ultimate Championships 🇯🇵
Last week open (with a recap here below), this weekend it's all Women's!
This Japan nationals is their qualification for the World Ultimate Club Championships in (sunny sunny) Limerick, Ireland next year. Opens has two bids. Women’s has three.
Japan nationals structure is four games, and it’s literally a pre-quarter, quarter, semi, final. So if an opens team loses any game before the final, they can’t get a bid for WUCC. And women’s you have to make semis to have a shot at WUCC.
The women’s draw has Mavericks on one side of the draw with some uni teams (some of them are still strong). Then the other main contending clubs (UNO Mud Swampybarg Huck) all on the other side of the draw. This is based on a seeding tournament that happened back in May.
It’s a brutal way to do WUCC bids! No pool play, no cross overs, no second chances!
As an example of this, Buzz Bullets lost their quarterfinal last weekend to a youth club, Gona. So they will not be going to WUCC. (Thanks Mish for all the info!)
